Omega Project 2 News to our Partners – October 2021

Dear Faithful Reader & Partner,

The month of October meant a lot to the good people of Foursquare Gospel Church Asokoro. The theme of the month “He is my King” was taken from Psalm 103:19. “God has set his throne in heaven; he rules over us all. He’s the King!” During the month, we recognized God as King over our lives, having become citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven the day we became born again.

“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” – I Peter 2:9

God as King in His kingdom has responsibilities towards His citizens. We as his Citizens have our responsibilities. If you are a citizen of this kingdom and you are not pursuing His pleasure, then you are not following the protocols of the kingdom of God. Recall that we were created to give our King pleasure. You must know what the King wants. It is in knowing what the King wants that you can give Him what will give Him pleasure. If you do not know what the King wants, your sacrifices will be rejected. Your greatness in the kingdom is tied to what you do for the King. When the King is pleased with you, He can make you into anything He wants. Recall how pharaoh, King of Egypt elevated Joseph to rule over all Egypt because the King delighted in him. The King will elevate you if He likes you.

“Howbeit the Lord God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel forever: for he hath chosen Judah to be the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father He liked me to make me king over all Israel:” – I Chronicles 28:4

Beloved, God is King and he rules over all creatures. He regulates the entire universe by His powerful word. He is the king that we serve. Our King protects us, provides for us, and creates the enabling environment for us to thrive. Christ came to restore the privileged position man lost in the Garden. Our response to the King is to live for the pleasure of the King. To please the King, we must know what He wants.

To please the King, we must seek first the Kingdom of God. We must be focused on the pursuit of God’s glory. Beloved, if you pursue the glory of God, you will find glory. Our life is a gift from God, and what you do with your life is your gift back to Him.

Dearly beloved, the month of October was our church’s anniversary month. The Church celebrated this anniversary with her annual Fire Conference and Hymns reloaded. The Fire Conference presented God’s people with an opportunity to rekindle the fire of God in their lives. It stoked the flames of revival and brought God’s people into His presence. The hymns reloaded was an opportunity to sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs unto our King. Never forget that God is King!

“It’s good work you’re doing, helping these travellers on their way, hospitality worthy of God himself! They set out under the banner of the Name, and get no help from unbelievers. So, they deserve any support we can give them. In providing meals and a bed, we become their companions in spreading the Truth.”

MISSIONARY REPORT FROM GRIP KENYA

Dearly Beloved,

I had the opportunity to preach once at church on the great need there is for evangelism. We have been privileged to share God’s word through home cell fellowships as well. By God’s grace, we lead one such fellowship. We have no trained on missions as such but we have had the opportunity to share with our church on the great need there is for missions in North Eastern Kenya by sharing our experience there and rallying the church to pray for even more labourers. For me (Newton) it has been a great season of doing discipleship among students in school. I have been taking them through a discipleship book called “Growing in Christ” that covers among other things assurance of salvation, assurance of God’s help over sin and being obedient Christians. We have been praying for the healing of some church members that God would heal them. One is actually cancerous in the fourth stage and is currently undergoing chemotherapy at Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi.

 (NEW CHURCH PLANTS):
1. We have been able to follow up with our Muslim friends back in Garissa still with a view of reaching them with the gospel.
2. I have been involved with offering leadership to a missionaries’ fellowship that I have been leading for the last two years. In September we held elections and I am meant to handover by end of this month.

With our moving from Garissa town to the place we are now, God has continued to provide opportunities for ministry through school. My wife is involved in guidance and counselling as the head of department in the school where she teaches. I have been involved as one of the patrons of the Christian Union in the school where I teach. Those platforms have come in handy at helping us minister to the students.

We bless God for the fact that a niece of ours who had run away from home and been away for about a year without trace came back home a fortnight ago. It had been a very stressful moment for the family. At last God did it for us. Seeing her alive is a miracle given that there were cases where there were such incidences in the country only for them to be found dead.

Praise God with us.
a)Thank God with us for the safe return home of our niece after being away for a year. She came back pregnant and the parents are so broken. Pray for their emotional healing and for reconciliation.
b)Thank God for provision and good health especially through this Covid-19 pandemic.
c)Pray that God will continue to establish us in ministry and work life in the new place we have been. It is now a year since our relocation form Garissa
d)Pray that our house help will be faithful. We have just recruited a new one after the former ran away and left the children unattended. Pray that the new one will serve us and be transformed into Christlikeness as she stays with us.
e)Pray with us for more opportunities for ministry beyond schools where we teach and the house (cell) church we are leading.

Pray that God will help us as:
 a) We plan to continue serving in school alongside teaching.
b)We trust God to continue mobilizing for cross-cultural ministry as we also support those serving cross-culturally.

We thank God for OmegaProject2 and pray that it will be sustainable and expand beyond the current support base to be a blessing to the many nations that are yet to be reached with the Gospel of Christ. Thank you for faithfully partnering with us. We remain open to have you visit with us.

Newton

GREETINGS

I am humbled before God for having kept my family and I well for the last three months. I had few opportunities to share Christ with students. It was a continuation about Gods plan for saving mankind after the fall in the Garden of Eden. We have not interacted much during this quarter. I didn’t visit the computer centre regularly as it would be my routine, especially this month of September where I have been on a paternal leave. We got a baby through an operation and thus I could not be able to move out as normal. It has been good serving my family.

TESTIMONY
We are rejoicing in the Lord. He is a God of increase for he has increased my family with another baby. We are happy to hold a new born baby girl. We now have two girls. Praise be to the Lord God Almighty. It has not been an easy journey for the nine months to us due to several challenges that surrounded us, though we have overcome, such as sicknesses, theft, corona, financial constrains among others. Our miracle working God provided for us finances that helped us re-strengthen our house and buy some few house items.

PRAYER REQUESTS
a) Continue praying that God will protect us and our homes even in the times when we are engaged outside of our residential.
b) Continue Praying that God will give us more grace even when we are faced with trial and temptations in the field.
c) Pray that God will give our children’s good health as they grow up, and also for us as parents that we will take care of them holistically as the Lord would want us to do.

MINISTRY PROSPECTS
a) To continue ministering to the lives of youths through the computer training centre and with the hope of interacting with the community and sharing with them the Gospel of Christ.
b) To continue getting involved with prayer groups that meets every week with an aim of praying for the Muslim believers.
c) Have some time to relax from field having been there for quite a time since Corona came. Thank you so much for your love towards us in the field.

FROM NJOKI NG’ANG’A JOHN

Dear Friends.

Since I use teaching as a tool to reach out, it has been a good experience ministering to both Christian and Muslim learners in our School. Most of the Muslim learners have been very positive about it and are embracing the Change. We hope for a Positive transformation in their lives to make the right decision to follow Christ.

There has been no major missions training during the period since most of the focus was on Ministering to the Learners in the Christian Union in Our School. Some of the Activities also happened in the football ministry where I train young boys Soccer in the Community. This has given me a good Platform for Ministry among the young Children and also a chance to minister to them and transform their Lives.

Most of the youths here are involved in Crime and drug abuse which is rampant and molding them this early in a godly way is very important. This has also happened mainly among the learners and also it has been a wonderful opportunity seeing God working in the lives of the Children.

Prayers during this time have been mainly focused on various people groups e.g the Somali, Munyoyaya, Borana, OrmaandWardei. We have been mainly praying for their Salvation and God is doing great things in those lands. We normally meet as a prayer team with other missionaries every Friday evening from 5:30 pm for the Prayers. Football ministry where God has been using me to reach Munyoyaya, Orma and Somali Boys. It has been a good moment to share the Love of God with the boys as they Play to know the Love of Christ and play in a godly way.

TESTIMONIES
-In the last report, I requested for Prayers to My parents who have been sick. I thank God for their healing and they have now recovered. I give all the Glory to God for seeing me through that hard time.
-I thank God for Constant Protection. Our School has always been under constant threats due to our Christian faith. It is the only Christian School in this region. I thank God for continuously Protecting us during the hard times that we have always faced.

PRAYER REQUEST
-The Lord blessed us with a Plot. Pray that God will Provide Funds that we develop it and build our house there. This will save us from the burden of House rent.
-Pray for the boys that I reach through football Ministry that God will open their hearts and that they will accept and Embrace Christ.
-Pray for our School for God to continuously protect us from Various forms of attacks and the Constant security threats that we always face in this hostile region.

I intend to use this time to bond more with the Soccer boys in the football ministry and also to do an outreach in the neighbouring villages. Also intend to Visit a Somali Village which is far from where I live to follow up on some MBBs in that Village.

I pray that the Lord will Continually Bless you and the entire leadership of Omega2 Project under the Assembly of His Excellency. I always pray for you that God’s grace will always be upon you.

MISSIONARY REPORT FROM NIGERIA

Greetings in Jesus Name,

The MSL New Frontiers’ mobilization team had 2 meetings on the 5th and 11th January 2021 where post Covid19 strategy of engaging youth mobilization was developed. The attendees underwent Discipleship Making Movement (DMM) training and came up with 2021 mobilization work plan which was documented. I did a follow up on Xplore members in Jos and Bauchi from 11th – 19th February 2021 and also seized the opportunity to discuss with the youth leader of RCCG Shekinah Glory, Federal Low cost, Bauchi to run training for the youths which was proposed to take place as soon as Bauchi Polytechnic resumes from the strike.

By the grace of God I facilitated in Youth Kairos training in Jos, Plateau State on 7th – 9th and 28th – 30th April with 12 participants certified. Also facilitate in Youth Kairos trainings in Benin, Edo State from 21st – 25th April, 2021 with 28 participants certified.

PRAYER WEB
Prayer Web is one of Missions Supporters League publications to mobilize the body of Christ to pray for nations. I worked with Mr. Terkuma Ajon, a formal colleague, to produce MSL Prayer Web for July – December 2021 and the research and compilation spanned from February to May.

TESTIMONIES
1.  The Youth Kairos Training in Benin opened many participants up to the realities of missions, the urgency and their roles in the fulfillment of the Great Commission. Few of the participants made commitments to serve in a mission agency present at the training and to support missionaries financially.
2. Researching and compiling the Prayer Web further burdened my heart for lost souls and it is fulfilling to know that the Prayer Web distribution is causing some Christians to intercede for nations.

PRAYER REQUESTS
1.   Thank God for His continuous faithfulness to our ministry
2.   Also, continue to ask the Lord to revive and quicken my team and I to mobilize and engage the youths more effectively.
3.   Pray that the Lord will bless the partners of Omega Project 2 and sustain the project.

MINISTRY PROSPECTS
1. The compilation of Prayer Web for January – June 2022 commences in July 2021.
2. Our Ministry is preparing to launch 21 books on Missions and Discipleship written by MSL International Director, Victor M. Tukura in Abuja in June.
God bless the entire team and partners of Omega project 2.

Ajayi Thomas Olayiwola

Zanzibari Swahili in Oman

The Swahili-Arab people come from the east coast of Africa, mainly Zanzibar, Bagamoyo and Dar es Salaam. They are a mixture of Omani and some Yemeni Arabs who travelled to East Africa in the 1700s to establish trade with Europe, primarily in slaves. On the surface, Swahili-Arabs seem like regular Omanis. However, when one sits with them at a meal, the African roots come out. Much of the time, Swahili is spoken instead of Arabic, which is considered the trade language, and the food is much more African. They are Muslim, most following the Ibadi sect of Islam. According to locals, this sect is the most peaceful of the Islamic sects.

Ministry Obstacles
Access to the peoples of Oman by outsiders is somewhat difficult and there is a lack of Christian workers willing to make the attempt.

Outreach Ideas
Christian radio has much potential to reach the peoples of the Arabian Peninsula with the gospel, including Swahili speakers.

Scripture Focus
“So that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.”  2 Thessalonians 1:12

Scripture Prayer
Make this your prayer for today’s people group.

Prayer Focus
There may be no followers of Jesus today among the Swahili of Oman but pray for those who will soon believe in Him. They will need mature believers to help them become well established in the faith. Pray the Lord would create a growing desire in all the peoples of Oman to find forgiveness for their sin and for power to cope with the problems of this life. Only Jesus can provide these things. Pray Jesus would be revealed with power at the proper time.

  • All Christian captives held by jihadist and terrorist groups in Nigeria to be surrounded by angels and upheld in their faith as they become witnesses living or executed for our Lord Jesus Christ among their captors (Philippians 1:12-13).

  • The supernatural intervention by our Holy God to release Leah and remaining captives from their demonically motivated captors (Acts 16:24-26).

  • Nigeria’s President Buhari and Nigerian military to be supernaturally moved to action on the part of these captives of Islamic terrorist groups. NO ORDINARY FIGHT

Sezim was surrounded by angels. No, really. She could see them.

Just a few moments before she had been at her wit’s end. She was studying late into the night for four different exams. But she wasn’t feeling hopeful. In her country, if you wanted a good mark, you had to bribe the professor. It was something Sezim had become really uncomfortable with since she converted to Christianity. She knew it was dishonest, but it felt impossible to go against the grain. How could she ever become a doctor if she wouldn’t play by the rules of the system? But she was convicted by the Holy Spirit. She decided she would rely on the knowledge in her brain rather than a bribe.

The last time she had refused to pay her professor, he had gotten angry. He had even tried to fail her. He told her that she could be kicked out of the university if she did not pay him. Her mother, who was not a Christian, didn’t understand either. She questioned, why can’t you be like everyone else? Still, Sezim decided she would rather honor God with her studies.

But now it was midnight. The sheer load that Sezim had to revise was exhausting. So, she had put her head down to rest. But when she opened her eyes, she saw something amazing.

An angel walked out of the wall. Then another. And another. Soon she was surrounded by huge angels. She stared up at them, but they didn’t look down at her. Instead, they looked away, like they were watching for something. Like they were guarding her. Then she heard a voice,

Sezim, don’t worry. God will protect you.

She blinked, trying to wake herself up. But she wasn’t sleeping.

The next day, Sezim took her exams. Later, she went to get her marks from the professor who had threatened her. She discovered that she had passed every single one of her courses. In fact, her scores were as high as the students who had paid a bribe. God had taken care of her.

For many students, paying bribes to professors is a normal part of academic life. Students who become Christians must decide if they will continue to pay into the system or have faith that God will carry them through their studies. Pray with us for the students who don’t want to be “just like everyone else.”

  • Pray that they will place their faith higher than what their professors or even parents want them to do.

  • Pray for the witness of students facing corruption on campus, that they will be encouraged even when it is hard.

  • Pray for Sezim, who is about to enter the medical profession. Pray that she will continue to be a light in her field.

We Remember and Celebrate YOU – Our Partners

“…In the Lord, your labors are not in vain” (1 Corinthians 15:58) Remain steadfast.

GOD REMEMBERS YOU…AND WE DO TOO.
