Dear Faithful Reader and Partner,

C. H. Spurgeon of blessed memory remarked that,
When the kings of old made progress through their dominions, they caused a famine wherever they tarried; for the greedy courtiers who swarmed in their camp devoured all things like locusts and were as greedily ravenous as palmerworms and caterpillars.
Unlike those kings, fatness drips from the tracks of the great One who Answers Prayer  (Psalm 65:11).
Considering, the petitions we raised all through the year which sought for the activation of the powers of the great One who Answers Prayer:

  1. We had the need for forgiveness (v 4),
  2. We had the need for the satisfying goodness of our regular visits at the temple where and when our Hearer of Prayer responds to His people (v 5),
  3. We had the need for the deeds which put things right (v 6), and finally and most focused,
  4. We had the need for the rain of His blessings which is essential for life.  This was our key theme for the month of December (v 11).

Under normal circumstances, in desert areas like the far north of Nigeria, rain produces an amazing coming forth of grass, flowers, and crops. The joy and wonder of such results can hardly be overemphasized in our traumatized agricultural communities of the far north, where rain dramatically means the difference between life and death.
So, for us at the Assembly of His Excellency, the unspeakable crowning of the year regardless of all the trauma is surely in the joy over the gift of rain and the resulting flourishing growth of God’s people despite the horrendous effects of Islamist terrorism and the COVID19 pandemic on us and our Temple service.  This, led us to sing victoriously in our hearts, through the month of December that praise awaited the One that Answereth Prayer in Zion and unto Him shall the vow be performed (65:1)

In our various worship service review of this our key theme for the month, we asked the Hearer of Prayer to send an angel to come with many crowns to crown His people who walk the way of heaven.  These ones who from His promise are entitled to crowns:

  1. Crowns that will separate them from all others, Gen. 49:26
  2. Crowns to tear down mountains in their lives, Deut. 33:20
  3. Crowns of victory against numerous treacheries of our time, 2 Kings 11
  4. Crowns of reward like He designed for Mordecai in the book of Esther 6:1-10
  5. Crowns that bring about the flourishing of His people like the palm tree – Psalm 132:8-18
  6. Crowns in the hands of our God – making us His royal diadem
  7. Crowns that will signify that our land is married to the One that Answers Prayer – Isaiah 62:1-4

We reaffirmed to ourselves that we have a God of purpose, plan, and objectivity; and that, the purpose of God’s goodness is primarily for His purpose (Col. 1:16), and all God is asking us to do is to be His stewards; looking for an opportunity to discharge the debt we owe to God’s purpose, and to dispense His gifts how He wants them to be dispensed.

This should bring His comfort in all our tribulations, so that we may comfort them who are in trouble, by the comfort we ourselves have received of God (2 Corinthians 1:3–4).
The One that Answereth Prayer said to Moses (an example of God’s mercy in the midst of the execution of all male children in Egypt) “I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.  So, then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy”. (Romans 9:15–16).

Apostle Paul went on to remind us that we are what we are by God’s grace and we must not hold the grace bestowed on us in vain.  The One that Answers Prayer warned in Luke 12:13–15, 12:17-21; we should take heed and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesses.  We must not live like the biblical “fool” but live like the wise Christian, laying up treasures in heaven and being rich towards God by paying our vow.  This way, the Hearer of Prayers will always visit our land and move through it like a conqueror, and unlike human conquerors, the One that Answereth Prayer will not leave our land desolate.  His track or trail through our land will leave us fertile and in a state of tremendous well-being regardless!

Beloved of God,

Peace unto you as we look forward to the celebration of the birth of our Lord. It’s close to Christmas and a good time to remember all of you who have meant so much to us as a family, over the years and especially, this remarkable year of 2020. Thank you for your steadfastness in staying with the Lord and reaching out to us, despite your own personal challenges. We are very grateful. This is a brief note to keep in touch, to express our appreciation and to give you some news about us. There is so much to say that we can only give summaries and merely touch on a few of them. If you need to know more about any of the issues, please feel free to ask about the particular issue and we shall comply.

After two years of incubation, we launched into what to us, appears like our Closure ministry on earth, CAFRILASIA Renaissance Foundation THE ARK.
We had stepped down from the leadership of Agape Missions two years ago and we’re just going through transitions and preparation for the next assignment. In Liberia, God opened our eyes, Naomi and I, to the fact that every community has within itself endowments from God that could transform their situation. At Cestos city, a state capital, we saw people who are poor and suffering in the midst of plenty. No electricity, no clinic or dispensary, church buildings in pitiable condition! A people who need God. That gave birth to this vision of community transformation.
By March this year, we launched forth and began recruitment and training. It has been intensive training on discipleship, community transformation, family issues, empowerment, and other areas.
Through lockdowns, ENDSARS protests we continued. Now we have 40 staff on the ground ready to move by next year.

May 5 (5/5/2020) was a determining point in our walk with God. During our family prayers, Fulani boys walked into our house and shot me in the leg and point-blank on my forehead, shot Naomi on the back as she was lying down protecting in her arms, our last granddaughter, shot Adua on the leg and Victor a young missionary with us on the leg. The rest is history. God took us all out of it and we are alive to tell the story. You were there right by our side as well as thousands of God’s people across the world. Thank you.

Our new work at CAFRILASIA, the Ark, demands us to move to a more cosmopolitan Centre as we are targeting communities in the Caribbean, Africa, Latin America, and Asia. God used the attack to procure for us a house in Abuja. We should be moving early next year. We still need some 7. 2million Naira to effect the full payment, furnishing, and movement. Many of you have given and given to get us to this point; we are grateful. Our training Centre, for now, remains at Gana Ropp so we shall still be coming here to conduct training.

Naomi’s “Mums in Prayers” has gone very far to many Nigerian cities, many African countries, and even beyond Africa. It is a quiet revolution changing homes and stabilizing many homes as women meet online every week to pray primarily for their children but also for other issues. The ministry to widows, and they are so many around us, is taking a toll on her health and energy level. Listening to their stories is so depressing.

Our children – Ife, Adua and Ayo are all in good health and living for the Lord. They each have different challenges but they are able to give them to the Lord.

Thank you once again for being there for us. We are very grateful.

Sincerely yours,

Bayo and Naomi Famonure.

From Uganda – Uche Izuora

Beloved,
Compliments of this joyous season to you and yours. May the peace, protection, and provision only God can give and sustain continue to find you.It has been our tradition at this time of the year to update you on how we faired in the passing year. The year 2020 began with much excitement and great hopes. By the end of the first quarter, the pandemic had forced changes on us in ways we didn’t anticipate. Uche beat the lockdown in Uganda, departing with the last flight out of the country, and arrived home hours before the lockdown in Nigeria. God perfected his steps and stops all the way. We continue to give glory to Jesus! At the apex of our plans for 2020, we had hope that we would have completed the Mission Base and Training Centre in Arua, by November 2020. The groundbreaking scheduled for 29th April 2020 was canceled and we’ve continued to wait for the appropriate time to re-engage. The setbacks were soon understood as setups meant to prove our commitment, reaffirm convictions and re-establish this commission on surer footings.

We embraced opportunities that began to emerge and had a greater part of our mission efforts in 2020 addressing humanitarian needs during and after the lockdowns. We built new partnerships and worked closely with various government agencies in Uganda to bring palliative to locals and South Sudan refugees within the West Nile region. This provided new platforms for ministry exploits which we continue to facilitate.

Like the rest of the world, we did much online. However, as soon as restrictions on international travel were lifted, Uche returned to Uganda in November. At the end of his three (3) weeks trip, we were convinced more than ever that the Lord’s command to— go, teach and model to all nations how to love and follow me” cannot be efficiently done by proxy. The internet is a great blessing to this generation but it has its limitations. Discipling the Nations demand a measure of face-to-face encounters that cannot be overemphasized. We must keep going!

These pictures below highlight key efforts made in bringing help and hope to a few, this year. God’s grace, your ceaseless prayers, financial support, and encouragement made it happen. We are thankful. May the Lord continue to get His due from our corporate efforts until we enter His eternal embrace, in Jesus name!

Our commitment to teacher training and empowerment is total. It is a core strategic effort in the refugee camps and the least developed nations we intend to engage.

Beloved in Christ,

Calvary greetings in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I wish to acknowledge with thanks the receipt of the sum of N16,500.00 credited to my account yesterday, 27th Dec 2020.

I attest that your partnership this year 2020 has contributed to my ministry and family fulfillment. No doubt there were adverse effects of covid-19 to ministry and undue burdens both on me and the work. For example, we had to take in a stranded Camerounian brother for about 2 months as he was trapped in Lomé where he knew nobody. Another brother who was quarantined as he was transiting at Lome on his way to Nigeria was also attended to.

Worse still the recession that hit the Nigerian economy brought our currency, naira, to parity with the FCFA as opposed to the ratio N1:1.65frs in March when covid effects became pronounced.

Challenges simply multiplied but God was faithful and I am grateful that you were part of the solutions. May the Lord abundantly bless you in Jesus name – Amen.

Looking forward to 2021, it is my prayer that the Lord will strengthen you and enlarge your coast of ministry. I am trusting God that our partnership will grow stronger and yield even greater value in eternal matters.

Thanks indeed and God bless you abundantly.

Yours in Him – Christ,

During this time of Covd 19 we started prayer meetings for God’s direction on what to do.  We later started Bible study in one of the family homes, and also started sharing food with them.  Through this 2 “M” friends got saved
God bless you for your continuous support in prayers, finances, and encouragement, even if it has been a hard year for the whole world economically. Through your support, I was able to visit although some were fearing  because of Covn19
During this time we were able to give ourselves to prayers than ever before. When Covn19 started many things stoped, you continued to support me. May the Lord open doors to bless the ministry, that you may be able to support many more missionaries

I give God the Glory for His faithfulness toward me from last quarters to this quarter. I want to particularly thank Havilah Omega for her kind support. This support has been a source of encouragement to me. I pray that God shall continue to increase Havilah from strength to strength in Jesus name.

MISSION MOBILIZATION:  I was able to carry out mission awareness and mobilization in the following churches in Jimeta town and Yola town respectively: Global Faith Mission, Haske Baptist Church, Redeemed Christian Church of Christ Shagari low cost Yola town, and ECWA Church Yola town, Lutheran Church of Kofare, Yola, and Church of the Brethren [EYN] Yola and Assembly of God Church Jimeta.
The essence of this is to raise missionaries for training in the school of missions and to also raise financial resource for the mission work.DISCIPLESHIP CLASS; In my last report, I reported that I am discipling a “M” convert, A.  Another convert whose name is T has been added. T is under “Al Majirinci” which is “I” Discipleship in a community that is closed to our Mission base; He came in contact with the gospel and responded positively to it. I brought him into our mission base. Both he and A are undergoing discipleship and literacy class that would enable them to read and write at least in Hausa.
I have a challenge with keeping these two converts in our mission base because they can easily be traced to our place, because of this challenge, I believe God to move them to a convenient discipleship center in J. Pray with us that it will be actualized very soon.

PRAYER REQUEST
1.Pray for God to help us to actualize our 2021 plans.
2.Pray for God to raise financial help for us in the training department.
We are trusting God for a Vehicle in the training department. Pray for God to meet this need.
3.Pray for A and T who are M converts undergoing discipleship programme.
4.Pray for God to raise for our school of missions prospective missionary students for next year training session.CONCLUSION: As I trust God to help me to achieve more for Him in my next year plan, I solicit for  more prayer and support from you.

May God enlarge your ministry and give you more missionaries.
Thank you so much!

Dear Partners in Mission,
Greetings from Pretoria and trusting that you have had a blessed worship experience today!

In this season of Thanksgiving, we wish to thank God for you and for your partnership with us in the cause of the Kingdom of God.
Thank you for your partnership of many years and especially this year!

This has been a very unique year with the global pandemic significantly impacting on our ministry and travel plans.
We also thank God for the opportunity that this year presented us to have a wider impact on our ministry leaders across a number of countries, through virtual interactions.
This experience has also revealed in us, areas we need to equip and prepare ourselves for ministry in the post-pandemic era!

Your gifts to us over the years and especially this year under the pandemic and stiff economic condition have meant a lot to us in ways that are difficult to describe in words!
Your consistent gifts remain the key highlights of the year for us of God answer to prayers.

We pray the Lord Himself would also surprise you with His abundant blessings and generosity.
As a family, we say, “THANK YOU”!  “Your love has given us great joy and encouragement, because you brethren have refreshed the hearts of the saints.” Philemon 7

Mbali with Sabelo her husband with son, Ndabenle (15) left and daughter Siya (7)  right

TESTIMONY

Mbali’s story

When we first met Mbali and her husband, Sabelo, some years ago, they had a lot of questions about the Christian faith and the Bible. We spent a lot of time with them seeking answers to some of their questions from the Scriptures.
Mbali had previously lost her job as an industrial chemist some years ago, but in the past few years until the pandemic, she worked with an NGO which sought to rehabilitate and restore to productive living, youths of the townships. Part of the reorientation programme for these youths involved discussion of the Biblical worldview.
Mbali reported that those hours of discussion on the Bible that she had with us had been immensely helpful as she answers questions about God and the Bible from the youths she worked with. Below is the feedback to the head of the NGO from one of the youths who had been helped by Mbali – which I have her permission to share here: (apart from Mbali’s name, initials are used for others in the extract).

  “Good day Mr C.
Trust that all is well. My name is JVR, and I am a trainee for the jumpstart programme.
I just want to express my gratitude to the jumpstart team and Mbali, for the opportunity that has been presented to me. I have attended the life skills training, from the 6th of September 2019, at Khotso House in Johannesburg. I would like to thank Mbali for being such a caring, loving and empathising facilitator. She was patient with us at all times, and she was completely focused and she would not move until we understood or rather made sense of every lesson. Mbali really connected with us on both, personal, interpersonal and a business level. She interacted with us in a helpful, respectful and in a professional way. Not only was she technically competent but also an outstanding educator,  and consistent, and that made us feel worthy.
Thank you very much,  and continue touching and changing lives, thanks for helping us reach out potential. You really add value to our lives.
Warm regards
JVR ”

Recently, Mbali told us that during this lockdown period their children are now reading the Bible and asking them (parents) lots of questions about the Bible stories.
Herself and the husband now have to dig deep into the Bible in order to be able to answer some of the questions the children are asking! The time we spent with them
in the  Scriptures is now yielding fruit!!
Thank you so much for your contribution and immense support in prayers and finances.
This comes with our deep appreciation and very best wishes to you and your loved ones, this Christmas and in the coming year.
“Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1Corinthians 15:57.

All glory to God for preservation of lives as family and entire mission agency.
Grateful to God for all partners in prayers, materials, moral and finances over some years despite the challenges of economic meltdown, sicknesses, death of loved ones and they continued in their supports by God’s grace and mercy. May the Eternal Father, I am that I am blesses them, their families, loved ones and their ministries/organizations or local churches.OUR WORK

  • People were led to Christ and proper follow-up and discipleship became a challenge as some of them who were coming to me in the house could not understand me very well due to a lack of understanding English. When I visited them for teaching God’s word, I had to look for an interpreter.  This challenge led me to start learning their local language and language learning took some of my time.
  • Afikpo correctional service (prison) was visited once. I reached out to the females in the female wing under the auspices of AOG because I have not applied officially to their authority as an agency/missionary for work amongst them yet. Three female inmates were led to Christ.  Two of them were there with their husbands. The three of them were having a case of murder. My prayer and advice were that only God can bring them out. If God knows of their true repentance, He will do something and bring them out to His glory.
  • My husband and I went to the F people at Mgbom bush Afikpo with an intention of preaching the gospel to them. They went out; only one young man among them was ministered to.

The Fulani family on Ozizza road Afikpo, two of their women were ministered to in Hausa language and they wanted to know my house which I did not tell them rather I preferred going to them because we have not gotten missions accommodation yet in Eastern region.

  • The host community ‘’ Ehugbo” were reached out to both young and old, some were led to Christ through confession prayers. We prayed they would abide.

We combined with C missionaries and few burdened individuals to pray for Ehugbo land. Most specific prayers are: – conversion of indigenous M people, Idol worshippers (Ogo cult), churches, and Nigeria.
At my immediate family level, we prayed for Gana-Ropp missions’ station, at a point almost every day against militant/evil attacks.

  • Mission’s mobilization was done briefly.

NOTICES:

  • Medical missions have not started yet due to accommodation problems.
  • Some of my family members including me were faced with health challenges and that affected our going out for some mission activities.

  PRAYER NEEDS:

  • Provision of land /accommodation for mission in the Eastern region.
  • Faithfulness to God and His work as missionaries.
  • Good health and deliverance from untimely death for all missionaries.

APPRECIATION LETTER

With due respect and honor, greetings to you in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith.
On behalf of myself and my entire family, we wish to show our gratitude to God who kept us alive to this season of joy and commemoration of the birth of Jesus. It is my pleasure also to commend and to appreciate your support from January to December 2020 which you been sending to me every month. We are grateful to you for the service of love, and may the good Lord reward you abundantly in Jesus name Amen.
This year has come and gone with its own challenges especially the Covid -19 pandemic that affected many lives of people, the economic, spiritual life of believers. Our prayer is that God will not leave us nor` forsaking us and He will continue to intervene in our situation in Jesus name. Amen
More also, this year I want to testify truly to you that, during the coronavirus period that what you used to send us monthly has gone a long way in saving the lives of people through us. Why I said so was that I also help widows and rural churches in buying land, individuals who are in need. That is how I used the money. Sincerely we cannot thank you enough, but the God whom you have done unto Him will bless you, and your ministry thanks you ever so much for your concern.
We hope to see you one day!

Urdu in Saudi Arabia

Urdu Speakers in Saudi Arabia originated in South Asia. They possess a group identity based on cultural and historical factors: the Islamic religion and the Urdu language. Urdu speakers in Saudi Arabia include the illiterate and the educated, the poor and the money lenders, the landlords and the religious leaders. Presently there is such diversity among these Urdu speakers that it is difficult to identify how to approach them.

Ministry Obstacles
Although they are Muslims, this is no longer a unifying factor due to differences among sects and social classes. Confusion and darkness reigns where truth and light must reign. They must be reached where they are, whether in their South Asian homelands or Saudi Arabia.

Outreach Ideas
Believers of many backgrounds, educations, and skills are needed to take this opportunity to live His life before this varied people group and to reach them with the gospel.

Pray for the Followers of Christ
There are no known Urdu speaking followers of Christ in Saudi Arabia, so pray that this will be the decade when a disciple-making movement begins among them, transforming their communities.

Pray for the Entire People Group
* Pray for God to raise up bi-vocational lay leaders to creatively show poor Urdu speakers ways to earn a better living, and how to allow Jesus to bless their lives.
* Movements happen with abundant gospel sowing, so ask God to pave the way for Urdu speakers to become part of His “forgiven” family.

Scripture Focus
And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people. And they sang a new song, saying: “You Rev 5:8-10

BIBLE NOW TRANSLATED INTO MORE THAN 700 LANGUAGES

By  20/12/2020 International Newsletter

Approximately six billion people can now read the Scripture in their own language, with even more having access to a full New Testament in their first language (1,551 languages).  According to Wycliffe Bible Translators, 1,160 languages also have some portions of the Bible translated, up from 1,138 last year. Executive director of Wycliffe, James Poole, said translation work is vitally important to Christianity. “You can hear things in your second or your third language, the national language, the language the government uses, the language the colonialists use, and it goes into your head, and you can understand so much, but when you hear it in your own language it goes to the heart.” One in five people are still waiting for the Bible in their own language according to Wycliffe.

Poole added that it would take at least another 15 years to translate the Bible into those unreached languages but that their work goes further than just translating God’s word for the first time.  “If you think of our English translations, we’re always having to update and revise them and do new ones, because the language itself is changing. And so alongside getting God’s word to people for the first time, we’re conscious that some of the work that was done maybe 50 years ago is starting to need updating. “That really matters because if you don’t understand the Bible well, if it’s not clear to you, it’s really quite hard to live for Christ when you haven’t got the help that God intended for you to have in His Word,” Poole explained. The charity is hoping to achieve 95% of the world’s largest groups having the Bible in their most suitable language by 2035.

INDONESIAN AUTHORITIES CLAIM MASSACRE OF CHRISTIANS NOT RELIGIOUSLY MOTIVATED

By  06/12/2020 International Newsletter

Indonesian authorities have said a terror attack in central Sulawesi, in which a priest was beheaded, three other Christians had their throats slit and a church was burned to the ground, was not religiously motivated. Police have blamed the attack on Islamic extremists from the East Indonesia Mujahiddin (MIT) terror group who witnesses said entered Lembantongoa village in Sigi Regency, killing the four men and burning down six houses and a Salvation Army church. The man who was beheaded was reportedly a ranking Salvation Army member who conducted Christian services for the local congregation in the same area in which 100 children attending a Sunday school camp were killed in a mudslide triggered by the 2018 Palu tsunami.

The Salvation Army in a statement confirmed an “outpost” had been attacked and urged “all Salvationists in the region to remain calm but alert and careful”.  But local military commander Farid Makruf denied the attack had targeted Christians specifically, pointing to the fact that non-Christian families also had to flee the village. “The event had nothing to do with SARA (a local acronym that refers to ethnic, religious, and racial discrimination),” Brigadier General Farid said. “According to witness statements, it was an effort by the MIT to fulfill their goals and show their existence.” Those denials have drawn scepticism from some rights groups as well as on social media where some criticized President Joko Widodo’s weekend silence over the murders, though his Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle released a statement condemning the attack.

Indonesia’s Co-ordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security, Mahfud MD, said the government was committed to tracking down those responsible for the attack, and that the President had ordered police and military to conduct raids in areas with known MIT affiliations.  “The government will get tough and hunt down the perpetrators through the joint police-military operation for their senseless violence,” Mr Mahfud said. Lian Gogali, a peace activist and founder of Central Sulawesi’s Institute Mosintuwu, urged the President to issue a statement of “basic empathy”, contrasting his failure to do so with his denunciation last month of French terror attacks, including one in which a young Muslim man beheaded an elderly woman and killed two others in a church in Nice.

But Ms Gogali also insisted this attack was less sectarian than attention-seeking, and that the jihadists targeted poor farmers and villagers regardless of religion to “spread fear and terror in Central Sulawesi”. “These incidents will keep on happening because the MIT want international attention. There must be an evaluation of the security forces’ work here because they have not been successful in putting an end to this pattern of violence,” she said.  Human Rights Watch Indonesia researcher Andreas Harsono said that while the terror group had killed a Christian, a Hindu and two Muslims in previous separate attacks in the province this year, the latest strike was a “clear escalation” of violence against Christians.

He urged authorities to fully investigate all killings, including the alleged accidental slaying of three farmers by the local counter-terrorism task-force. Central Sulawesi has long been an area of sectarian violence dating back to 1999 when tensions between Muslims and Christians spilled over into a brutal conflict that claimed more than 2000 lives by 2005. It remains the base for MIT, a small jihadist outfit that became the first Indonesian militant group to swear allegiance to ISIS in 2014. The group’s leader, Santoso, was Indonesia’s most-wanted terrorist until he was killed in 2016 by the country’s elite army unit, Kostrad. His replacement, Ali Kalora, was reportedly responsible for this latest beheading.
