Omega Project 2 News to our Partners – August 2021
View this email in your browser

Dear Faithful Reader & Partner,

The month of August brought the prophetic Word over us at the Assembly of His Excellency from Hebrews 4:16. “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need”.
This Word exhorted us to persevere and persist in prayer despite persecution and economic turmoil.  As a version of the Bible (NTS) puts it, “let us again and again draw near to the throne of grace” because the Merciful and Gracious God would by His “Mercy, Grace, and Help” give us “Supernatural Access” into the realities of the Kingdom of God.  A Kingdom that separates us, far above the realities of principalities and powers and spiritual wickedness in high places.

The Word called us to recognize that through His high priestly ministry, Christ has already achieved for us what our forebears, the Israel of God never enjoyed, namely, immediate and supernatural access to God and the freedom to draw near to him continually.

Beloved, we were not overwhelmed by the terrifying national events of the month of August.  Rather, these events testified to the faithful solidarity of our heavenly high priest with our community in our national weakness, and truly provided us, a strong motivation for earnest prayer.
In this guise, I would like to encourage you our partner, to unreservedly accept the benefits of the sacrifice of Jesus that grants supernatural access to the Father.  Access His presence with confidence. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you.

Dear friends, it is His mercy that qualified us even when we were not qualified. His Grace favoured us and made ways for us, and we received Help.

Faithful partner, recall that by mercy Esther accessed the presence of the King and received help for the Jews. My prayer for you, is that the overuling sceptre of the Most High will also grant to you supernatural access to His throne of Grace to obtain help in your time of need.  It is His unfailing promise.

Maranatha!

“It’s good work you’re doing, helping these travellers on their way, hospitality worthy of God himself! They set out under the banner of the Name, and get no help from unbelievers. So, they deserve any support we can give them. In providing meals and a bed, we become their companions in spreading the Truth.”

MISSIONARY REPORT FROM LEBANON FOR AUGUST 2021

Greetings from Lebanon,

Lebanon has been on the news all around the world the past few months, for all the wrong reasons. The situation has still been getting worse every day. Since 2019, the economic problems in Lebanon began to increase rapidly. We are experiencing one of the worst inflation rates in modern history.

The Lebanese currency lost over 90% of its value in the past two years, and most people still earn the same salary. For example, someone who used to make the equivalent of 600$ a month now makes less than 50$, that is, if they are lucky enough to still have a job. This salary is not nearly enough to get the basic needs of rent, food, and water. This crisis has led to many other issues.

People need to wait in line for hours to get petrol. It takes an average of 4-6 hours to get to the end of the line at the petrol station, and there is a large chance that the station stops selling petrol at any point as you are waiting. The shortage in fuel supplies also means that electricity is off often during the day. We have not had electricity for 8-22 hours every day and some areas are even worse. Because of this, a lot of food in the fridge gets ruined and needs to be thrown away.

Pharmacies have experienced severe shortages as well. Most pharmacies are nearly empty and most medicines are out of stock which means that many people with small illnesses that could be treated with a cheap medicine now need to go to the hospital. Phone service has also stopped in many areas in Lebanon, and there is no internet most of the day because of the power cuts. This has made it very difficult for people to communicate with each other during these hard times.

The hot summer days have made the problems even worse, people who are waiting in the petrol lines sit for hours in temperatures over 30 degrees Celsius and high humidity. People at home are sweating all day because of the heat and can barely sleep at night with no fans to use.

Throughout all this, we believe that God is still in control, He is greater than all that has been happening. He is moving in this situation. When we see that everything around us is shaking, we have no choice but to hold on to Jesus. Hebrews 12: 28 “Let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe.”

God is also showing us that He is enough and we can rejoice in Him despite the circumstances. Nehemiah 8: 10 “The joy of the LORD is your strength.”
To help families during this time we would like to give some food vouchers to needy families, especially to the families that we are doing ministry with. These vouchers will be used to get food from local shops so that these shops would be blessed as well. Each voucher will be worth 40$. We also want to help children go to school which will cost about 100-300$ per student per year depending on which school they go to.

Finally, we want to install solar panels for our offices so that we are able to function better when there is no electricity. This is expected to cost about 6,600$. If you would like to help with any of these needs, please contact us.

MISSIONARY REPORT FROM MALI FOR AUGUST 2021

Greetings from Mali,Beloved, below is an account of some of the things the Lord is helping us to do in Mali.

Makan Diassa
Following school has resumption for the 2nd term 2020-2021 sessions, we sort to legitimize the school. With one of the village notable men we went and met the area Academic Director to officially recognize the school. The man refused to acknowledge the school claiming that we had ran the school without his knowledge which was a big challenge. He told us to bring him the entire school document we have been using to teach he students. We did this in June. There was no problem with the school‘s documents, but the man was still unhappy because the Academic centre was not informed of the existence of the school on time. We were also running a Christian school which was a challenge. We continued to engage him and during our contact with him at the beginning of July, he made the following proposals:

  • All the students will be evaluated to assess their levels. The students were tested on July 29 and the assessment was good. I was asked to submit their names for admission process in another school. They will be admitted. Meanwhile if we are fast the students can continue in the same school. Plans are already on ground to get the school official document
  • There is a possibility to continue with the school activities on the basis that we follow due process of opening a school. We can open the school as a public or private institution. We chose to operate the school as a Christian private school
  • There is a possibility to run the school as an annex to another school.  The school is on break since July15 and by the grace of GOD will resume its activities for the 2021-2022 session on October 15 official date for school resumption in Mali. We are grateful to God  the school is already known outside our village even though we are still working to get the official documents.

Koniobla field
The work at Koniobla field was supposed to have commenced beginning of July. However, we suspended it to avoid a clash with another church that was also planning to start work in the same village. All the necessary arrangement was made but led by the Spirit of God who told us to wait; we suspended the work while waiting for the end of raining season to start work in a different village.

Bamako field
In Bamako we are doing Discovery Bible study as a way to reach out to people and to make disciple. From May to July, we have about four DBS groups. Our aim is to have as many groups as possible and increase our chance of winning souls and disciple them Attempt to get more groups was made but we are still trusting God that the contact persons will give positive answers. We had a training on Disciple making movement in May, a training organized by Final Command Mission Agency. Being  a partner with the mission, I do accompany them in their activities

Prayer Request

  • The school official document.
  • The ministry official document. It remains just the final signing but the people in charge are not cooperating. This signing would have been done since 2018
  • Success in DBS and disciples making
  • A new field . We still want to start a new field at the end of the raining season.
  • My first daughter is sick and need medical attention.

MISSIONARY REPORT FROM PRETORIA SOUTH AFRICA FOR AUGUST 2021

Dearly beloved partners,
Hospitality is an aspect that missionaries rarely highlight in reports, yet forms part of regular routines, especially in the pre-COVID era, when travelling and visits were unrestricted. We regularly host friends, relations, colleagues, and sometimes strangers. Rogerio, who we hosted recently in our home, was introduced to us by a missionary colleague in Angola. Rogerio is a young Angolan who wants to study Theology in Canada and needed to come to Pretoria to process his study visa to Canada at the nearest Canadian High Commission to Angola here in Pretoria. He told us this was his first time and the first member of his family, to leave the shores of Angola to another country, so he did not know what to expect. Yet from the time I received him at the International Airport, Johannesburg, there was a father-son-like connecting of hearts. For two weeks he became part of our family and accompanied me to different errands and ministry programmes. He completed all the necessary procedures with the Canadian High Commission here, but they wanted him to show enough financial capability to live study in Canada before they would grant him a visa.

He had since returned to his home country, Angola, to work on this requirement. These were his words on getting back to Angola: “…Thank you again for all you have done for me. I am telling everyone here, I won a family in South Africa…” Thank you for your prayers and support that enable us to live in Pretoria and serve people like Rogerio. Your role in our lives and mission can never be underestimated, for which we are deeply grateful.

 Prayer Points

  • Thank God for the opportunities He gives us to serve people in His Kingdom.
  • July 2021, had been a difficult month for us in the Navigators of Southern Africa. Two of our key leaders and colleagues went to be with the Lord as a result of COVID-19 virus complications – Mrs. Chi Oliobi in South Africa, and Mr. Francis Nyathi in Botswana. Please pray for God’s comfort and consolation for the respective families, and the larger Navigators community.
  • Join us to thank God for providing another car for us through the generosity of a few partners, after our only car was stolen in May.
  •  Pray that God would use the different virtual ministry initiatives we are currently involved with, to expand His Kingdom.

May this meet you and your loved ones encouraged and rejoicing in the Lord.

Your fellow servants in the Kingdom,
 Udobong and Gertie Idemetor

UNREACHED OF THE DAY
Southern Shilha Berbers in France

Southern Shilha Berbers in France

PROFILE
The Southern Shilha Berbers in France are similar to other Berber groups. Employment opportunities were limited in North Africa, so they sought opportunities in France. Like other Muslim minorities, the Berber people in France live in run-down neighbourhoods in Paris and Marseilles. Like other Muslim minorities, the Berbers believe the French look down upon them, much like the ancient Romans who called them “Barbarians.” While some living in France become more secularized like the French majority, others cling to Islam as part of their identity and culture.
Ministry Obstacles
Shilha Berbers identify Europeans and Christianity as a polar opposite of their Berber Islamic identity. They are torn between blending in with the French or self-isolating to protect their Muslim Berber identity. If they chose Christ over the Islamic religious system, that would present another cultural conflict.
Outreach Ideas
The women are the most isolated members of Shilha Berber society. The men are working and acculturating, and in some ways, the children are doing the same at school. Ministries that offer Berber women hospitality and the ability to learn the French language would go a long way in reaching wives and mothers.
Scripture Focus
“Behold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright within him, but the righteous shall live by his faith.”  Habakkuk 2:4
Scripture Prayer
Pray that this people group become faithful to God and not trust in themselves.
Prayer Focus
Pray for a people movement to Christ among the Shilha Berbers in France in the 21st century. Pray for Christian women in France to seek out the immigrant women and start a prayer ministry for them that will culminate in opportunities for hospitality and sharing the Saviour.

  • The truth to be made known about the fate of Leah Sharibu, Grace Taku, and Alice Ngada as well as other workers captured by Boko Haram and “Herdsmen” terrorists (John 8:32).
  • All Christian captives held by jihadist and terrorist groups in Nigeria to be surrounded by angels and upheld in their faith as they become witnesses living or executed for our Lord Jesus Christ among their captors (Philippians 1:12-13).
  • The supernatural intervention by our Holy God to release Leah and remaining captives from their demonically motivated captors (Acts 16:24-26).
  • Nigeria’s President Buhari and Nigerian military to be supernaturally moved to action on the part of these captives of Islamic terrorist groups. May their locations be found, and may the government & the military (without knowing what they do, actively intervene on their behalf (Mark 4:22) to set them free.

TALIBAN GOING DOOR TO DOOR SEARCHING FOR CHRISTIANS

As the Taliban continues to gain control of Afghanistan following the pull-out of U.S. troops, leaders of the underground Christian church are warning of the implications for religious minority groups in the country. In a statement, the leader of the underground church ministering to Christians in Afghanistan and the founder of the non-profit organization Global Catalytic Ministries, who goes by the alias Pastor X, provided a “first-hand ground report” on the situation in the country. The statement was shared by Frontier Alliance International, an organization committed to laying the foundations for the Gospel where there are none.  “The Taliban has a hit list of known Christians they are targeting to pursue and kill. The U.S. Embassy is defunct and there is no longer a safe place for believers to take refuge,” the statement reads.

“All borders to neighbouring countries are closed and all flights to and from Kabul have been halted, with the exception of private planes. People are fleeing into the mountains looking for asylum. They are fully reliant on God, who is the only One who can and will protect them.” The statement noted that “the Taliban are going door-to-door taking women and children. The people must mark their house with an ‘X’ if they have a girl over 12 years old, so that the Taliban can take them. If they find a young girl and the house was not marked, they will execute the entire family,” the statement added. “If a married woman 25 years old or older has been found, the Taliban promptly kill her husband, do whatever they want to her, and then sell her as a sex slave.”

Additionally, Pastor X stated that “Husbands and fathers have given their wives and daughters guns and told them that when the Taliban come, they can choose to kill them or kill themselves, it is their choice.” In a statement  Rex Rogers, the president of the non-profit Christian media ministry SAT-7, elaborated on the dangers faced by Christians. “We’re hearing from reliable sources that the Taliban demand people’s phones, and if they find a downloaded Bible on your device, they will kill you immediately,” Rogers said. “It’s incredibly dangerous right now for Afghans to have anything Christian on their phones. The Taliban have spies and informants everywhere.” With the Taliban’s takeover, SAT-7 reports that many Afghans have begun censoring themselves to avoid “retribution.”

In the first six months of 2021, SAT-7 PARS reported an increase in audience engagement from viewers in Afghanistan. SAT-7 PARS broadcasts two Dari programs targeting Afghan viewers titled “Window of Light” and “Secret of Life.” In an update SAT-7 reported that an anonymous SAT-7 PARS viewer told the organization that Christians “are in real danger.” “Sadly, in the past two to three days, my family and I have received death threats,” the viewer was quoted as saying. “In this emergency situation, I have no other way but to escape from the country.” Another viewer who came to Christ about a year ago told SAT-7 that the situation is “dreadful.” “My daughter’s life and my life are both in danger,” the viewer was quoted as saying. “My daughter is 8 years old. She has no one else except me. It was so difficult to find a phone to contact you.”

Joel Richardson, preacher and host of “The Underground” podcast, explained that “In the rural villages, what the Taliban is doing, especially if they know that the families are Christians, i.e. infidels, they’re taking the women who are teens and younger and giving them away as prizes” to Taliban fighters. According to Richardson, it’s not just Afghan Christians who find themselves in danger due to the Taliban’s resurgence. The Taliban has also set its sights on Afghans who have demonstrated any allegiance to the U.S. over the past two decades. “Tens of thousands of Afghanis who worked with the American military as translators, who were part of the government, many of them are being targeted, executed,” he said.

As the Taliban gains ground, leaders of Christian non-profit agencies have called on Americans and the international community to pray for Christians in Afghanistan. Officials with faith-based refugee agencies have urged the U.S. government to admit tens of thousands of Afghan Christians and “American-affiliated Afghans” as refugees. Pastor X lamented that “20 years of work strengthening a nation has been destroyed in a single day” while World Evangelical Alliance Secretary Bishop Schirrmacher stressed that  because “the constitution of 2004 stated that Afghanistan is an Islamic republic with Islam as its state religion,” religious minorities never fully received equal rights in the country in the first place.

Please pray:

*for safety and protection for these people, many of who are in a state of great fear. Pray that the Lord will blind the eyes of the Taliban and also distract them so they can get to the airport unnoticed or just waved through without any hassles.

*that the moderates, or least radical, leaders among the Taliban will win out as to being the executive leadership over the nation and keep the most radical elements of their forces in check. Pray that they will have some human compassion for their new subjects and that many of them will have divine encounters to go “from Saul to Paul”.

*for the reopening of businesses and for humanitarian aid to be able to flow to the people needing help so that famine or other disasters can be averted.
